While we’re all staying in these days (and will probably have to do so all Summer) many of us are tackling unfinished home projects. Same here! On our current planning: the rooftop terrace.
Technically, the terrace isn’t located on top of our attic, but on top of an extension that turned into the bathroom. A roof is a roof, right? Anyway, we left this 9 square meters of open space empty for over two years but now we finally have the time and especially the ambition to turn it into the most epic rooftop terrace of all times!

During these 2 years we had obviously brainstormed quite a lot about the layout and style, but when it came to making decisions, it turned out pretty difficult to actually find pieces that perfectly suited our ideas. Concretely, we want to turn our small city terrace into a luxurious sanctuary that we can fully relax in!
After all, we won’t be going on holidays anytime soon, so I’m planning a fabulous staycation on our sundeck this year.
Think lots of Mediterranean plants, warm but neutral tones, organic shapes and an overall modern vibe. A peaceful place to gracefully tan in the afternoon and have classy apéro drinks in the evenings. Something like this:
In terms of furniture, I had some very clear specifications in mind for the sofa: no wood, no polyrattan, no grey. And quite big, preferably with a corner so I can stretch out completely while tanning 🙂 Wellll, apparently that turned out more difficult to find than I initially thought.
After quite a futile search of a few months, I desperately took my turns to the Instagramz to ask you guys about your favourite outdoor brand. Then I got a message from IG colleague Anouk Taeymans, whom I know from working on projects like Nespresso etc. She’s actually a kick ass entrepreneur, being a full time interior designer and owning a webshop with mostly Scandinavian and Belgian furniture & accessories. This is where it gets interesting!
Why not, during these difficult times, collaborate with a Belgian outdoor furniture brand and local webshop to support & boost our local economy?
Anouk introduced me to Belgian luxury outdoor brand Royal Botania. She designed their showroom and told me she had some really cool pieces in mind for our terrace. As she’s used to designing all-in interiors, I happily gave my project out of hands so she could create our little sanctuary!
Royal Botania stands for a high-end marriage between contemporary materials, quality and tasteful design. Enter Organix: a collection of luxurious lounge furniture in organic, natural shapes designed by Kris van Puyvelde. Holy moly, this is EXACTLY what would take our little place to the next level! These pieces are so unique and contemporary-looking — I’ve never really seen anything like this before. Here’s what I’m talking about:
As you can see, all pieces are modular and can be rearranged in different angles to completely change up the setup according to your needs and space. I absolutely love that the side tables almost blend in with the shape of the seaters, and that the poufs are so easy to move around when friends arrive. The rounded shapes add to that super cozy feeling of sitting together with your loved ones, don’t you think?
Obviously, we don’t have a large garden with seaviews to showcase the complete Organix lounge set in, but our sun deck turned out a great size to feature one of the large sofas and a beautiful side table!
Curious to see how Anouk envisioned this collection on our small terrace? She drew me a 3D plan to help me visiualize the final result, keeping in mind the sun angles and neighbour’s terraces:
How’s that for a tiny luxurious sanctuary?! I can’t WAIT to actually see this design come to life very soon! We discussed colours and fabrics over the phone, and the lounge sofa and coffee table are currently already on their way… Oh, and plants too!
